When you walk into the CIA main headquarters building, you can’t miss the giant CIA seal on the floor of the lobby and the accompanying inscription “AND YE SHALL KNOW THE TRUTH AND THE TRUTH SHALL MAKE YOU FREE - JOHN VIII - XXXIII.” When people ask me about the nature of my prior work as an intelligence officer, I tell them it was the most liberating job I have had. As intelligence collectors, our jobs were to find the unvarnished truth and present it to our policymakers to aid in their policy development and decision-making. I use this biblical principle of truth-seeking as a guide in all that I do.
